Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy

Based on findings from the detailed assessment, treatment for vestibular disorders will consist of one or more of the following methods:

  • Gaze stabilization exercises to improve visual clarity during head movements

  • Canalith Repositioning Maneuvers (CRM) such as the Epley Maneuver to move displaced otoconia in the semicircular canals

  • Balance/proprioceptive exercises to reduce the risk of falls

  • Habituation Exercises for motion sensitivity

  • Manual therapy for muscles/joints of the neck

Treatment at our clinic is rooted in evidence-based protocols and is custom designed for each patient based on their specific diagnosis. Certain conditions, such as BPPV, can be managed quickly and effectively, often within 2-3 sessions. Other more complex vestibular disorders, and those that involve higher brain regions, may require additional follow-up sessions combined with a progressive home exercise routine. Treatment always involves education on the nature of the problem and the prognosis.  We believe this education is essential for empowering patients in the recovery process.
